MacBook Pro 14-inch (M5 Pro / M5 Max) charging wattage
Apple lists 70W as the minimum charging power and 96W or higher for fast charging on 14-inch MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro or M5 Max.
What charger should you use?
For the simplest setup, choose a standards-compliant USB-C charger whose relevant port can provide at least 96W when you want to meet this preset’s fast-charge / supply reference, then use a cable rated for the same path capacity. A larger charger is normally fine with standards-compliant USB-C charging because the device negotiates what it uses.
What happens below the target?
The 70W minimum in this preset is manufacturer-published. Between that minimum and the 96W fast-charge / supply reference, the device may charge but not at the advertised fastest rate. Exact included adapter varies by configuration. The checker compares available supply capacity, not live negotiated device draw.
Why the cable and port still matter
A charger brick's total rating does not guarantee the same power on every port. WattageFit compares the remaining shared charger budget, selected port limit, cable rating and preset target. The reported wattage is available path capacity — not a live measurement of what the device is actually drawing.
