Apple lists 35W as the minimum charging power and 70W or higher for fast charging on MacBook Air (M5).
What charger should you use?
For the simplest setup, choose a standards-compliant USB-C charger whose relevant port can provide at least 70W when you want to meet this preset’s fast-charge / supply reference, then use a cable rated for the same path capacity. A larger charger is normally fine with standards-compliant USB-C charging because the device negotiates what it uses.
What happens below the target?
The 35W minimum in this preset is manufacturer-published. Between that minimum and the 70W fast-charge / supply reference, the device may charge but not at the advertised fastest rate. Fast-charge behavior varies with model, battery state and temperature. The checker compares supply-side capacity; it does not measure live device draw.
Why the cable and port still matter
A charger brick's total rating does not guarantee the same power on every port. WattageFit compares the remaining shared charger budget, selected port limit, cable rating and preset target. The reported wattage is available path capacity — not a live measurement of what the device is actually drawing.
