What charger should you use?
For the simplest setup, choose a standards-compliant USB-C charger whose relevant port can provide at least 40W when you want to meet this preset’s fast-charge / supply reference, then use a cable rated for the same path capacity. A larger charger is normally fine with standards-compliant USB-C charging because the device negotiates what it uses.

The 5W minimum in this preset is manufacturer-published. Between that minimum and the 40W fast-charge / supply reference, the device may charge but not at the advertised fastest rate. The phone negotiates only the power it can use; a larger charger is safe when standards-compliant.
Why the cable and port still matter
